Why Am I Unhappy? The Real Root Causes No One Talks About

Why Am I Unhappy? The Real Root Causes No One Talks About

So this blog post is all about what makes us unhappy and feeling stuck. Hopefully after reading, you’ll have a way to start making a difference.

As mentioned in other blogs, music can really help something emotionally kick in, so I’ve picked a song I’d like you to listen to whilst reading this as I think the melody and emotions it brings align with what I’m trying to say.

Song: I wanted to leave - SYML

What is it that makes life worth living?

Money. Fame. Love. Being the best.

Everyone has different goals and dreams, different ideas and opinions about what they believe makes a life worth living.

So why are so many people unhappy?

In my opinion, people focus too much, think too loudly, and see too little. We bury our heads in grand ideas of what will make us happy, the milestones we think we have to reach to finally be a success. But this is a trap, and one that will leave you with regret and confusion.

My dream when I was younger was always to have a successful business. To reach a point where I am financially free, successful, and able to follow what I want to follow. I’ve tried various different ideas to get me there; none have succeeded. SunTide has been around for a few years, just in different forms. It’s only recently I’ve managed to create a brand that I’m falling in love with and hopefully one day will earn its success. Yet I know that even if SunTide works out and earns thousands of pounds, it will never be the reason I am happy.

The happiness comes from the process. To me, SunTide is more than a business, it’s a promise to myself that I will continue to pursue what I dream, follow where my heart wants me to go, and believe that even when the road is unclear, I am on the right path.

My happiness will not come from money, fame, or the societal flexes that so many celebrities and businesspeople flaunt. I create my own happiness, and that comes from what I value.

SunTide’s first sale.

When I finally get to travel the world again.

Making a difference in my life and in the lives of the people I care about.

Happiness is not a destination for me; it is a choice. I choose, every day, to create the happiness around me.

Yesterday, it was enjoying learning a new song to play on the piano.

Today, it might be as simple as enjoying a coffee I bought from the work canteen.

Tomorrow, it could be watching a beautiful sunset on my drive home.

This is how you live, you make a choice.

People drift through days, watch time go by, and ask themselves:

What is my purpose?

How can I be successful?

What is going to make me happy?

Yet that’s all that happens. They ask a question and commit to no answer.

Even if you have no answer, you can commit to trying every day to discover it.

You don’t know what will make you happy?

Think about what you are grateful for. The good things that keep happening to you. The opportunities you have to travel, learn new skills, meet new people. Life is so exciting if you give it a genuine minute in your head, rather than focusing on what’s wrong.

You want money?

Stop focusing on money. Think about your passions, the things that make time fly by. Chase them. Money comes with passion. People who love raising ant colonies are making millions from YouTube videos… anything is possible.

You want success?

Success, again, isn’t a destination, and everyone’s opinion is different. Sit with yourself for a while and think about what you will truly see as success. In my opinion, it’s feeling like you’re making a difference, no matter how small or big. Success isn’t an achievement or a milestone; it is day-to-day wins that make you proud.

So, go into 2026 not with answers, but with a promise to keep trying.

To keep exploring, questioning, dreaming.
